The Role

12 Month, Fixed Term Contract

A Test Technician role within the R&D pillar of the Innovation function working within the Device Development team. Reporting to the Test & Compliance Engineer, the role plays a key part in supporting the Engineers on new product development projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist Development Engineers to test prototypes
  • Work on new technology projects and product developments
  • Running test machines
  • Complete product testing activities, together with capture of results and creating reports/documentation
  • Create documents/reports to communicate test procedures/results in line with company standard
  • Operate, maintain and commission workshop equipment
  • Ensure H&S standards and good working practices are maintained within the workshop
  • Support of new product development in line with agreed project plans
  • Provide ongoing support for current engineering projects
  • Produce jigs and fixtures in support of R&D, prototype assembly and testing activities
  • Assembly/disassembly of prototypes and test samples
  • Prepare product samples for consumer and sensory testing
  • Ensure upkeep of workshop standards, test equipment, tools, provisions and consumables
  • Support internal training and project compliance requirements
  • Other practical activities e.g. preparation of samples in the Formulation facility, manufacture of consumer trial materials in the development facility, booking in materials through the warehouse

Key Skills, Education & Experience

Essential

  • HND/Degree qualification in Engineering
  • Experience with data acquisition and data logging
  • Ability to use/operate general workshop Hand/Machine tools
  • Planning and completing work to agreed standards
  • Highly computer literate, with the ability to interpret and analyse numerical data
  • Very good English language skills
  • Significant experience in a mechanical/product testing role
  • Exposure to workshop environment and test equipment
  • Creation of technical documents and reports
  • Compiling and presenting data


Desirable

  • Experience in the electronic and mechanical testing of electronic products
  • Experience with technical documents, works procedures and/or test standards
  • Familiarity with EVP and/or HT products
