The Role

For our Global Tax team Reemtsma as part of Imperial Brands is looking for an International VAT Manager (m/f/d) located in Hamburg!

Working as part of a growing international Tax Team and reporting to the Head of VAT.

The role of the International VAT manager – has a strong focus on providing the business with VAT advice in Germany and other European Countries.

What are your major duties?

• Day-to-day VAT advice to support the business in all VAT related queries for Germany and other European countries.
• Support the global VAT planning and strategy for new and existing flows, commercial and vendor contracts, and corporate initiatives in consultation with external advisors.
• Act as an advisory board to monitor global legislative and regulatory changes; assess and advise management on VAT impacts and practical mitigation strategies.
• Support for ensuring effective Business Unit partnering and agility to respond to the breadth of VAT and related queries.
• Support the management of VAT audits and controversy (including tax authority disputes, litigation and settlements) to drive efficient and timely audit resolution.
• Support the design and implementation for VAT aspects of the tax strategy and VAT policies, aligned with overall business objectives and regulatory environment.
• Identifying, monitoring and managing VAT tax risks.
• Provide VAT related guidance and expertise to the wider business across all relevant processes.
• Design and implement a program of VAT training to the business to support (i) tax challenges of operating internationally; and (ii) understanding of and compliance with VAT policies and standards.
• Support transformation and business change activities with tax expertise and guidance.
• Cooperation with external advisors in other countries where necessary.

Who are you?

• You have successfully completed your studies in economics or law.
• You have several years of professional VAT experience, ideally with a large multinational company and/or Big 4 accounting firm with a concentration in VAT. Previous experience in a multinational in-house- tax department as well as Certified Tax Advisor examen would be a plus.
• During your working experience, you gained an extensive knowledge of German and EU VAT regulations.
• You can demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and coordination skills across all levels of the organization.
• Your strengths include an attention to detail, project management, problem solving attitude together with a motivated, proactive and professional personality.
• You have in depth knowledge of MS Excel and previous experience of accounting system SAP
• You are fluent in German & English in written and spoken.
