ABOUT FONTEM

Fontem Ventures, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands plc is a leader in vaping technology and owns e-vapour brand blu. Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and with its research & development centre in Liverpool, UK, Fontem Ventures develops and commercialises vaping products under the blu brand.

THE ROLE:

This role sits in the NGP Digital team, reporting directly to the Head of Digital Delivery and forms part of the digital technology leadership team.

The Head of Development and Testing is responsible for overseeing and driving the vision, design and execution of the Engineering practice. This will also involve enabling and supporting the broader delivery teams through leadership and evolution of the QA capabilities and Development practices. The Head of Development and Testing will also be expected to work in an agile fashion and have a close working relationship with the Engineering teams. Additionally, you will be responsible for the hiring process, coaching developers and supporting their career growth.

This role will contribute to the global vision and strategy, especially when it comes to talent acquisition & growth and organizational design. The role will involve building strong relationships with other functions and the wider Firm. In this role, you will be a critical member of the team, contributing to the success of the overall function.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Support and enable digital delivery teams with common design and development standards across digital domains
  • Provide support to operationalise and maintain Guilds that operate across the Delivery Streams
  • Ensure that digital assets are being used appropriately and best practice processes and standards are embedded within teams
  • Lead, mentor, grow the QA automation and development teams as practices mature
  • Foster a culture of resourcefulness, positivity and collaboration between teams
  • Provide coaching to ensure that digital assets are being used appropriately, automation tooling is leveraged and capabilities are being utilised in the most effective manner
  • Support Head of Digital Delivery to build and deploy activities to support digital delivery
  • Drive best practices and productivity amplifying tooling and process to reduce the time from commit to production.
  • Build world-class teams by hiring exceptional talent and growing existing capabilities
  • Interact with all developers every day as a leader and coach (weekly one on ones)
  • Plan and support career development of the developers
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties
  • Complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices in coding, documentation, test automation, and deployment
  • Streamlines engineering effort across functional and/or technical domains
  • Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by developers
  • Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs
  • Communicate and collaborate with leadership, other managers, suppliers, and contractors
  • Balance and manage engineering/DevOPS capacity in product team

YOUR PROFILE

  • MS/ BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience as a software developer
  • Leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
  • Track record and passion for growing people and cultivating talent
  • Not afraid of tough conversations and conflict resolution
  • At least 5 years of experience delivering software solutions in a manager or lead role
  • Data driven, analytical and quick to learn
  • Proven experience working in a cross functional environment
  • Strong negotiating skills and experience in contract management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to distil complicated topics for a broader audience
