The Role

This role sits in the NGP Digital team, reporting directly to the Head of IT, NGP and forms part of the overall global technology leadership team.

The Front- End Architect is responsible for helping leaders enable their current- and future-state capabilities to drive organization's targeted outcomes, applying architecture principles and practices to guide organizations through the business, information, process, and technology changes necessary to execute their strategies. The Front-End Architect will help design and build a long term, integrated technology roadmap, governance model, and architectural standards that are aligned with key business objectives and enable simplicity, agility and quality of our development and infrastructure platform.

The role will involve building strong relationships with other functions and the wider business. The role will be a critical member of the team, contributing to the success of the overall function. The Front- End Architect is expected to work in an agile fashion and have a close working relationship with the various product teams to ensure high application reliability, scalability and availability.  

Principal Accountabilities

• Understand business objectives and apply in-depth technical know-how to develop, maintain and plan state architectural blueprints
• Communicate and work with the engineering/product teams to ensure that the blueprint is executed as planned
• Communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders and key partners
• Provide guidance and technical leadership on front-end architecture and design to the front-end community in the product teams by referencing and enforcing standard methodologies
• Develops front-end architecture that is inherently secure, performant, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric and global.
• Collaborates with the business to evaluate business goals, identify business problems, and propose solutions
• Supports the rationalization and optimization of the technology portfolio and investments
• Consults with and supports the executives and key stakeholders in the identification of priorities, recommending cost effective and technically sound approaches, and supporting the development of comprehensive business cases for each initiative.
• Facilitates open communication and fact-based, data-driven decision making
• Initiates the use of industry standard processes and frameworks, and promotes the adherence to internal control practices
• Facilitates innovation across the organization, and the usage of technology research and development in support of solving both current and future business problems

Skills and Experience Required

• Strong communication skills and ability to distil complicated topics for a broader, non-technical audiences
• Advanced knowledge of technology architecture, with proven design skills
• Proven experience working in cloud first (native) environments
• Experience with React, Node, CSS frameworks, Atomic design
• Excellent understanding of asynchronous programming
• Strong understanding of security best practices and data protection
• Experience with Azure cloud platform
• Knowledge of CI/CD best practices
• Excellent computer science foundations (data structures, algorithms, software design)
• Proven hands on experience with front-end development
• Experience with architecting solutions for highly scalable, highly available systems is required
• Proven track record working in a cross-functional, agile team
• Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset
