The Role

A role within the R&D pillar of the Innovation function working within the Device Engineering team, supporting the Engineers on new product development projects. Reporting to the Head of Device Development, the role plays a key part in the device development for all new product development projects.

Principal Accountabilities

• Assist Development Engineers to test prototypes
• Work with on new technology projects and product developments
• Running test rigs
• Complete product testing activities, together with capture of results and creating reports/documentation
• Create documents/reports to communicate test procedures/results in line with company standard
• Operate and maintain workshop equipment
• Ensure H&S standards and good working practices are maintained within the workshop
• Support of new product development in line with agreed project plans
• Provide ongoing support for current engineering projects
• Produce jigs and fixtures in support of R&D, prototype assembly and testing activities
• Assembly of prototypes and test samples
• Ensure upkeep of workshop standards, test equipment, tools, provisions and consumables
• Varied practical activities, to include; preparation of samples – Formulation facility (lab or clean side)
• Manufacture of consumer trial materials – development facility (clean side)
• Booking in materials – Warehouse or clean side
• Prepare product samples for consumer and sensory testing

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Education

• HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent)
• Basic engineering qualification, HNC or good equivalent experience
• >3 years experience in the electronic and mechanical testing of electronic products

Skills

• Understanding of the principals of measurement and testing
• Familiar with instrumentation, electronic and electrical measurement techniques
• The ability to interpret and analyse numerical data
• Very good English language skills
• Planning and completing work to agreed standards

Experience

• Practical experience in electro-mechanical environment – machining, fabrication, assembly, test equipment
• Creation of technical documentation and test result reports

Desirable Experience

• Experience with data acquisition and data logging
• Concept idea generation
• Experience with EVP and/or HT products
