Senior Behavioural & Surveillance Manager

About us

The role

To lead IMB’s behavioural, population health science and scientific affairs surveillance function in line with the IMB Scientific Assessment Framework and commercial agenda. Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for:

  • Defining and implementing the IMB perception and behavioural research agenda across the NGP portfolio, aligned with Approvals + operating models: [1] local market regulatory requirements to launch new products or defend current portfolio; [2] regulatory priority issues/objectives and [3] targeted substantiation of harm reduction
  • Managing the research agenda and associated budget and providing leadership and strategic direction to the research team undertaking studies. This includes identify appropriate methodological strategies to effectively address key priorities, develop research protocols, oversee multiple protocols across a range of research approaches, manage a team of behavioural researchers, and interpret and present the results to scientific, regulatory, and lay audiences.   • Management of scientific affairs specialists responsible for the ongoing interpretation and contextualization of scientific and medical literature and network of external experts relating to IMB’s Combustible and NGP portfolio ensuring business understanding and readiness. Advising the Product Stewardship & Health Group on the state of science of products & health.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead the behavioural scientist to successfully deliver the completion of behavioural science-related projects to support IMB’s commercial amitions
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of behavioural studies that [1] supports bringing new products to market and defending current portfolio, aligned with local regulatory requirements; and [2] contributes to the totality of evidence on harm reduction potential of IMB’s products
  • Ensuring behavioural studies are robust and durable by identifying and successfully managing relationships with vendors including CROs, subject matter experts, biostatisticians, as well as managing budgets, contracts, etc. Ensure behavioural studies are robust and durable by identifying and successfully managing relationships with vendors including CROs, subject matter experts, biostatisticians, as well as managing budgets, contracts, etc.
  • Manage the analysis, interpretation and compilation of evidence packages regarding behavioural science
  • Work collaboratively with GSRA and CLA colleagues to support targeted engagement with regulatory communities through face-to-face meetings, regulatory filings, publications in scientific literature and participation in scientific conferences to develop, inform and validate our behavioural research approach
  • Protect present and future business by providing in-depth scientific research support, specialist guidance, and advocacy on relevant issues including critical analysis of scientific publications on product regulatory or health issues. This includes providing monitoring of and expert advice on the scientific and medical literature relating to product and health.

Skills & experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualifications and experience in an aspect of science related to psychology, behavioural change and/or behavioural health
  • Proven experience in leading diverse research acquired in academia or industry, preferably in a regulated consumer products industry such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, tobacco, food or cosmetics
  • Ease of working with large data sets and familiar with both quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
  • Understanding of pre- and post- market product regulation and regulatory standards
  • Ability to lead and manage others
  • Strong and proven project management and external collaborations skills
  • Creative thinking and intellectual curiosity paired with a strong ability to understand complex relationships
  • Solutions focussed with ability to prioritise as appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills to lay and scientific audiences
