The rapid growth of vaping is a consumer-driven revolution, based on a whole range of different motivations, which is fundamentally changing social habits and lifestyles.

THE ROLE

The Agile / Scrum Manager sits in our global Digital Product organization. Your role will involve building strong relationships with other functions and the wider business. You will be a critical member of the team, contributing to the success of the overall function. You are responsible for ensuring teams work well together, following agile practices and continuous improvement. A critical part of the job involves guiding the teams and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight our consumers.

 

The purpose of the Scrum Manager is to act as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives. You support in delivering value, improving sprint velocity and cross departmental and ways-of-working challenges. You are responsible to resolve backlog and team impediments with other teams to increase the effectiveness of the application of the delivery model in the organization.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leading and coaching the teams in scrum adoption;
  • Ensuring the scrum team adheres to scrum theory, practices, and rules;
  • Guiding the team on how to get the most of self-organisation;
  • Assessing the scrum maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team;
  • Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint;
  • Removing or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the blocks;
  • Work with the scrum team and the product owner to negotiate the minimum viable product for delivery;
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work;
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution;
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information on internal control practices.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must: first level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I);
  • Desirable: second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II);
  • Demonstrated prior experience in project management and/or leading scrum teams as scrum master;
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency;
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs);
  • Uses data to identify challenges and current progress (e.g. velocity charts);
  • Uses gamification to engage the team;
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability;
  • Observant and mindful of the team and wider company dynamics;
  • Knows how to coach even the most challenging team members;
  • Experience managing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience in running agile teams;
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
