The role

The Head of CLA Operations is seeking a Project and Community Lead to bring together Imperial Brands’ CLA function. Reporting to the CLA Operations Manager, the Projects and Community Lead will:

  • Gather stories about the work of CLA and our people at our Group offices, in our clusters, and in our markets.
  • Support the ethos of the CLA function, by helping the CLA Leadership team to communicate these stories within the business, highlighting our work, our people, and our successes through webinars, newsletters, and town hall meetings.
  • Take responsibility for the organisation of physical, virtual, and hybrid training events for our people.
  • Own our annual charity day, our Christmas and summer parties, and various other ad hoc teambuilding events and conferences throughout the year.
  • Facilitate and plan market visits, conference speaking opportunities, and external speeches for our senior leaders.
  • Take oversight of the CLA function’s intranet pages, and ensure all staff have access to the materials they need to be effective in their roles.

 

In addition, the Projects and Community Lead will be responsible for one or two concurrent projects – which might be implementing a talent programme or redesigning our on-boarding material for new joiners. The focus of these projects will be on adopting new methods, technologies, or approaches to advance the objectives of the function, and through them, the strategy of Imperial Brands overall.

This combination of responsibilities will offer the post-holder huge potential to develop independent and innovative project leadership, build valuable products for the business, and establish a strong internal network in all areas of our global footprint. For the right candidate, it provides a platform to bring a unique combination of interpersonal, project management, and analytic skills together.

Key accountabilities

  • Ownership of Corporate Affairs communication channels (SharePoint intranet, Teams, Yammer, email)
  • Internal communications for Chief Corporate and Legal Affairs Officer and Director of Group Corporate Affairs
  • Ownership of functional training days (0.5 days every other month + annual full day)
  • Organisation of annual charity day, functional Christmas and other teambuilding events
  • Community webinars
  • Delivery of monthly Community newsletter
  • Delivery of 1-3  projects per year

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Growth mindset. Solution-oriented, with a “can do” mentality. Keen to learn constantly to increase delivery. Willingness to experience and learn from failure. High ambition.
  • Practical plate-juggler. Experience of developing and running projects, sometimes simultaneously, and at pace, without sacrificing quality.
  • Communicator. High level English-language written and verbal communication skills. Confident in addressing and commanding the interest of large physical or online audiences, and producing quality supporting materials in Word, Powerpoint and similar.

Desirable:

  • Interest in public policy, especially regarding behavioural economics and/or public health
  • Portfolio of (side) projects that show previous achievements
