About us

Originally founded in 2013, Nerudia quickly developed a strong track record of developing innovative nicotine products to encourage smokers to switch to less harmful alternatives. In 2017 we became part of Imperial Brands, a dynamic fast-moving consumer goods company with 28,000 employees worldwide, and we are now Imperial’s home of Innovation for Next Generation Products. Spanning all three NGP categories; vapour, heated tobacco and oral nicotine; we develop products driven by consumer preferences based on based on detailed market testing. We work cross functionally throughout all stages of product development from concept to launch and beyond, enabling fast and agile delivery from idea to shelf.

The role

This role is a Junior-Mid level position within a team of 4, and has a hybrid set-up 50% site based and 50% remote. We are accepting candidates who can commute to Liverpool (or alternatively depending on location, as we also have a Bristol based office for candidates located nearer to Bristol.)This role involves Product Characterisation scientific studies to enable IMB to launch, protect & defend its NGP & Combustible portfolio and influence the development of science based regulation and product/technical standards. We are looking for a Junior-Mid level professional with a degree / study background within Analytical Chemistry, or Chemistry related field relevancy, with some experience in a relevant role to understand how a product is formed, how it interacts, and to perform & coordinate testing. Training can be offered on products, so it is more important to have the right academic background, interest, and willingness to learn. You will be helping to design chemical testing approaches to meet needs of the regulatory submissions; direct the testing of products both internally and with external contract research organisations (CROs); interpret and communicate the scientific data to a wide range of stakeholders across IMB and with external stakeholders (e.g. national and international standardisation bodies). Contribute necessary chemistry studies that support and substantiate Imperial Brands’ meaningful contribution to tobacco harm reduction

Key accountabilities

1. Act as product characterisation on a range of projects covering I2L NGP, PMTA and other Regulatory and Research projects.2. Contribute to designing scientific protocols to understand the chemical and physical product characteristics of IMB NGP portfolio and identify NGP with substantially reduced risk profile. Assess, evaluate and interpret data to support product launch and defence. Interpretation and packaging of data with associated narratives and key messages.3. Contribute to the development of scientific research of IMB NGP portfolio to challenge and ensure that proposed regulations / product standards development are based on robust and scientifically substantiated argumentation and develop strong messaging to proposals that undermine tobacco harm reduction.4. Create innovative solutions to effectively manage the impact of current and future regulations on commercial portfolio and laboratories workload.5. Protect and defend NGP business interests by providing to the business in-depth research support, specialist guidance, and advocacy on relevant issues6. Engage with the scientific, public health, and regulatory communities through face-to-face meetings, regulatory filings, publications in scientific literature, participation in scientific conferences and product standardisation forums where we present our research and company positions7. Work in close collaboration with Scientific Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Affairs and other relevant functions to communicate findings of product characterisation science both internally and externally
