Within Innovation, Packaging & Print Development we are looking to appoint a new Packaging & Print Development Engineer.

What are you going to do?

As Packaging & Print Development Engineer, you will report directly to the Head Of Packaging & Print Development within Innovation, R&D.
Your main responsibilities include:

• Developing innovative packaging and print concepts with a consumer centric mindset including pretotyping and prototyping in close collaboration with categories and insight teams;
• Developing sustainable packaging solutions to deliver Imperial Brands ESG ambitions;
• Developing a pipeline linked to digital innovation with a focus on smart packaging;
• Leading complex packaging & print related projects from ideation to launch with focus on discovery & packaging concept development. Supporting packaging realisation workstream towards the implementation including IP checks and the qualification and specification of all needed materials and drawings. This includes hand as well as machine packing processes;
• Acting as an interface between internal partners (e.g. marketing, insights, operations) as well as external partners (e.g. agencies, packaging or machine suppliers) and building strong partnerships;
• Maintaining an ongoing awareness of emerging technologies, machinery and supplier skills to ensure the delivery of consumer led solutions at appropriate costs;
• Leading and supporting multiple packaging development projects in parallel, including their implementation;
• Support the optimization of machine/material interface, as well as the optimization of hand packing process in close cooperation with factories and global supply chain functions;

Who are you?

• You have a degree level qualification in a Science based subject – preferably Packaging & Print Development, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design;
• You have first experience in the discovery and development of different packaging & print solutions combined with an agile approach of test and learn with consumers;
• You have first professional experience with a packaging & print background;
• You have a very good sense for experimenting, learning and improving fast and you are curious to discover new things by networking with internal or external partners;
• You have very good knowledge of MS Office and good knowledge in AutoCAD or Solid Works
• You have knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes;
• You have commercial, Interpersonal/Intercultural awareness;
• You have project management skills, as well as communication and stakeholder management skills;
• You are flexible, discreet and open minded for new solutions;
• You are able to work calmly and remain highly engaged in a frequently high-pressure environment
• You are willing to travel frequently worldwide (up to 25%);
• You speak English fluently.
