The role

As a member of the People & Culture Global Functions leadership team, the role holder provides Business Partnering support to a function/group of functions on all People and Organisation Design matters, will define, develop and drive the People and Culture agenda for their own areas of responsibility, contribute to the P&C agenda for the Global Functions team and play their part in the wider People & Culture agenda.

Global Functions includes: CFO (Finance, IT, Group General Counsel); GCO (NGP, Innovation, Insights, Marketing & Portfolio, Group Science & Regulatory Affairs); Group Strategy & Corporate Development & Transformation;  People & Culture (COEs, Group Communications, BP teams, ESG, P&C Operations); Governance and Security.

The Head of People & Culture - NGP is a member of the NGP leadership Team.  They have a deep understanding of the NGP business and act as an internal consultant by coaching, challenging and influencing the Functional leaders in order to align the needs of the business and the delivery of the function's business priorities and people plan.

Working closely with the P&C Director - Global Functions and Head of NGP, the role will be responsible for driving strategic talent priorities, organisation effectiveness and change management activities in order to achieve the agreed NGP strategic business goals, KPIs & targets.

Key accountabilities

  • OD & Transformation:
  1. Facilitates / participates in OD review process: reviews and participates in defining the optimum organisation structure, ensures roles are sized and captured in role profiles.
  2. Ensure completion of impact assessment and development of people implementation plans.
  • Will ensure development and active management of Global Talent Plans for NGP – liaising with the Talent COE and NGP leaders to  ensure appropriate Talent Strategy and development plans are in place for critical roles, addressing actual and future organisational needs, with a view to maintain a sustainable future talent pipeline.  Facilitate regular reviews with the functional leadership team of global talent and ensure there is a clear understanding of existing talent, critical talent required, capability gaps, building technical capability priorities, succession planning (including IME Moves).   
  • Recruitment:
  1. Develop Annual Workforce Plan specifying resourcing needs, updating with business need and change requirements. Oversee Functional Resourcing Plan and delivery by the Resourcing COE – ensuring active partnership and delivery of effective service.
  2. Work with and liaise with Resourcing COE team on all senior hires and general resourcing plan delivery – partnering with the leaders in defining requirements, agreeing with resourcing team the best approach, briefing Search agencies/resourcing team, participate in selection process as required (interviews/assessments etc). Participate in candidate assessment and offer decisions.
  • Reward: Engage with Reward COE to ensure roles are benchmarked, and reward proposals are informed and aligned with company policy. Discuss proposals with function leaders to arrive at agreed package changes / offers and within budget.
  • Liaise with Global Mobility on key international moves.
  • Partner with leadership team, COEs and P&C Director - Global Functions to articulate and develop the People and Culture agenda, priorities and plan for NGP.
  • Partner with NGP senior leaders to drive and implement the agreed People and Culture agenda and plan priorities that are fully aligned to the long term business plan (and agreed IMB People strategic priorities e.g. transformation change, employee engagement and Diversity & Inclusion).
  • Budget:
  1. Participates in development of NGP P&C budget aligned to deliver People Plan (ER/legal, Travel, Development, Resourcing).
  2. Partners with the NGP leaders to build and manage the P&C Budget for their business area. Ensures alignment with overall P&C Global Function budget.
  • Supports Head of NGP to develop their leadership team capability, effective ways of working as a leadership team and ensure alignment with the IMB purpose, vision and behaviours. Coaches and influences senior leaders to create an healthy working environment where teams feel empowered to bring their best selves to work
  • Oversee and ensure delivery of all P&C annual processes which are linked to performance management (e.g. EOY review). Ensure that all processes are cascaded and communicated appropriately.
  • Liaise with COEs to develop the functional talent & succession and learning & development plans and facilitate functional process with leadership team.

Skills & experience

Essential:

  • 5 years’ experience Global remit HR in multinational FMCG company
  • A relevant University/Bachelor Degree
  • HR generalist profile
  • Managing / leading / partnering business through Change
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience coordinating cross functional teams
  • Experience in being a leadership team member
  • Effective at overlooking projects that include multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as strong negotiation, influencing and presentation skills
  • High EIQ
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to learn quickly, acquire new skills and solve problems with a solution orientated approach
  • Willingness to travel according to business needs
  • Proven delivery under pressure
  • Positive, can do attitude
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
  • Has worked effectively within a matrix environment

Desirable:

  • Master Degree
  • Certification/Professional Qualification in HR Management are preferable.
  • OD practitioner
