About Fontem and Blu

Fontem Ventures, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands plc is a leader in vaping technology and owns e-vapour brand Blu. Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and with its research & development centre in Liverpool, UK, Fontem Ventures develops and commercialises vaping products under the Blu brand.

The Role

Our Direct to Consumer (D2C) platform integrates all operations and capabilities centrally, enables consumer digital experience, eCommerce, digital marketing & segmentation, and customer care coherently working under one roof. It integrates multi-vendor, fit for purpose solutions, and serves multi-brands and multi-markets in standardized and localized fashion.

The platform consists of two main legs. Both teams ensure capabilities and data flows that form the foundation of our global D2C are in place, powering the functional components and enable seamless operations at the centre:

  • D2C BE team is responsible of backend integration and business abstraction services.
  • Data Engineering team bringing and modelling data across all operational systems and data sources.

As the platform is central to our operations, the Global D2C Platform Lead is expected to have a wide understanding across all domains and capabilities supported, is aware of both depth and breadth of functionalities and use cases running in markets, and responsible of keeping the central standardized “platform” vision in-tact.

Being the Global D2C Platform Lead you will ensure that the feature developments, platform improvements and market releases always follow the “global” and “scalable” principles. Together with other POs and teams, you will also make sure that we “build once deploy many”. Additionally, you will be collaborating with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Category Leads, and other stakeholders in Digital area to manage expectations, avoid deviations from “one global platform” vision.

Essentially with product owner skills, you will be representing the product and feature expectations from the platform components, translate them to user stories to be worked on Data Engineering, and D2C BE teams in particular priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owning the vision and roadmap for D2C BE and Data Platforms to meet the needs of growing number of markets, evolving feature portfolio and increasing number of external vendor integrations
  • Supporting the product teams with the product cycle: ideation, research, design, development, and launch
  • Guiding various (digital) teams to mature in their practices in tech, operations, and processes
  • Creating alignment across the entire company – from the cross functional team all the way to senior leadership
  • Utilizing data and feedback loops to identify the right things for the team to focus on
  • Effectively managing stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Planning and effectively managing deliverables (roadmap)
  • Articulating the roadmap to platform backlog; managing, prioritizing, and writing the user stories in the backlog

Your Profile

  • Strong ability to understand complex systems and coupling points.
  • Owning and evangelizing the “big picture” across wide range of stake holders.
  • Experienced in both Systems Thinking and Design Thinking.
  • Ability to develop a good level of understanding of technical blueprints (especially in microservices), APIs and multi-vendor, multi-tech SaaS solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Integration and Data Analytics.
  • Being able to recommend initiatives to improve and build upon the data architecture to support the business.
  • Experienced in driving elements of the product development lifecycle such as product vision, strategy and roadmap planning, user engagement, requirements, and product launch
  • Significant experience working in a cross-functional agile teams
  • High level expertise in stakeholder management
  • Data driven, demonstrates ability to make decisions based on feedback loops and data sources
  • Customer and consumer centric with a vast understanding of technology
  • Focuses on coaching and alignment, not command and control
  • Knows how to prioritize issues based on value/effort overview
  • Mixes strategic, tactical and operational, depending on the need
  • Excellent communicator
