The Role

The Enterprise Solution Architect is responsible for:

  • Working with Business Partners and Platform Leads to provide demand estimation and architectural guidance
  • Contributing personally to the shaping and planning of significant investment projects
  • Contributing personally to the development, active promotion and compliance of the delivery principles, policies, standards, methods and tools to be applied across all platform programmes and projects
  • Work with customers to understand needs and create the solution vision.
  • Architect compelling and competitive solutions which demonstrate significant and quantifiable value to the business
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to Business partners and Platform leads in relation to the SalesForce Architecture. This would specifically include Consumer Good Cloud, Loyalty Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Community Cloud and Marketing Cloud

Key accountabilities

  • Provide oversight for the platforms programmes and projects within the IS Portfolio; where appropriate attend and support the steering groups for these
  • Work with Business Partners and Enterprise Architecture in developing investment proposals.
  • Contribute to the development, active promotion and compliance of the delivery principles, policies, standards, methods and tools to be applied across Solutions Delivery.
  • Work Business Partners and wider Solutions Delivery team to ensure that delivery resources are sized, procured and deployed to meet prioritised demand.
  • Provide performance management and mentoring of staff within Solutions Delivery.
  • Own and manage the identification and management of project/programme interdependencies along with the associated risks and issues.
  • Leverage Imperial assets and third-party relationships in architecting solutions
  • Lead the demand process within solution delivery - planning teams for large, complex projects including multiple solution architects, subject matter experts, business partners and 3rd parties.
  • Bring operational experience to bear to ensure proposed solutions are deliverable at an acceptable risk to Imperial
  • Build strong links with and working collaboratively with Global IT groups (e.g. Enterprise Architecture, Office of Global IT, Business Partners and colleagues within Solutions Delivery)Represent IT in multiple governance bodies
  • Act as an ambassador for Global IT

Essential skills and experience required

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in Information Technology, Engineering Business, Economics or equivalent
  • A proven track record in managing the delivery of complex, cross-functional and cross-geography IT programmes relevant to the Platform with extensive experience of working in IT
  • extensive architecture experience in detailed SalesForce solution architecture in a complex global environment.
  • A track record of driving business change as part of IT programme delivery with a demonstrated ability to assess evidence and make decisions that challenge the business norm
  • Considerable experience in the application and (to a more modest extent) the development of IT delivery methods (planning, scheduling, project control procedures, agile and classic approaches, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability of building and managing key relationships with internal IS and business stakeholders
  • Excellent IT supplier and people management skills with experience of managing teams spread across multiple locations, both staff and third-party resources
  • Engaging, articulate and able to influence across internal IS and business stakeholders
