The rapid growth of vaping is a consumer-driven revolution, based on a whole range of different motivations, which is fundamentally changing social habits and lifestyles.

THE ROLE

The role of Development Team Lead sits in our global e-commerce platform and is reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The role forms part of the overall global technology leadership team, and will involve building strong relationships with other functions as well as the wider business. You will be a critical member of the team, contributing to the success of the overall function.

In this position you will be responsible for execution of development and integration activities together with your specific development team. You are also expected to manage the delivery of digital products and services through design, build, implementation and deployment. As a Development Team Lead, you are a technical delivery expert who is expected to ensure that your delivery portfolio meets the required outputs and solutions, on time, within budget, meeting business requirements and in compliance with relevant development standards.

This role also is accountable for providing support of digital assets including break fix and root cause analysis. You will work in close collaboration with the Product Owner, the product team, and be responsible for the technical execution of the product backlog together with the engineering team. You will work closely with architects to ensure that the architectural vision in the specific domain is defined and executed.

Whilst this role will require our new colleague to being based in or around Amsterdam, we also welcome European professionals who are planning to move to The Netherlands.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for providing coaching and expertise on development in the respective digital domain
  • Managing the overall build of digital services and solutions which meet business requirements and in compliance with all relevant standards
  • Provide regular and effective progress updates to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues
  • Oversee and direct support where Developers provide root cause analysis and service restoration in relation to the digital assets
  • Provide operational oversight and technical leadership to a team of Developers to ensure digital solutions are delivered on time and within budget
  • Collaborate to ensure that digital solutions are built with best practices, reusability of code and an understanding of how to leverage technology to best meet business needs
  • Work closely with relevant teams to ensure alignment and coordination
  • Accountable for meeting all governance standards
  • Responsible for planning of, tracking and reporting of technical delivery
  • Responsible for the technical execution of the product backlog

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in systems and applications development incl. analysis and design
  • Experience in implementing quality guidelines, standards and procedures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to distil complicated topics for the tech team
  • Advanced knowledge of technology architecture, with proven design skills
  • Proven experience working in cloud first (native) environments
  • Experience with .NET
  • Excellent understanding of asynchronous programming
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and data protection
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform is a plus
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices
  • Excellent computer science foundations (data structures, algorithms, software design)
  • Proven hands on experience with building large-scale, performing system -end development
  • Experience with architecting solutions for highly scalable, highly available systems is required
  • Proven track record working in a cross-functional and agile team
  • Proven track record leading a development team
