The role

This role is a permanent role Part-time 3.5 days per week. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Legal Executive to support the UKI Legal Team in providing legal advice to the UK Market. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing commercial contract support to Sales, Marketing and Trade Support and, subject to the overall supervision of the Legal Counsel (Combustibles) and Legal Counsel (NGP), help to provide support on straightforward regulatory issues affecting the sale of both combustibles and next generation products in the UK.

The candidate will also be responsible for supporting the UKI Legal Counsel and other team members in managing GDPR compliance for the Cluster.  The candidate will be enthusiastic and happy to help provide a wide range of commercial and administrative support to the legal team and to the wider business.

The candidate will well-organised, flexible, pro-active and enjoy the administrative challenge of helping to support a busy legal function in a fast-paced business.

This role is a permanent role Part-time 3.5 days per week. 

Key Accountabilities

Commercial / Legal Administration

  • Managing the Contracts Database for the Cluster
  • Coordinating the electronic signing of contracts by appropriate signatories, both within the business and externally
  • Helping to draft and finalise straightforward contracts <£50,000, short termination notices, waiver letters and NDAs, all using existing Imperial precedents and with appropriate support from members of the legal team
  • Assisting the legal team by providing ad hoc support on particular project tasks from time to time
  • Reviewing and updating the Trade Support team’s Furniture Contracts as required to ensure they meet the business’ needs
  • Preparing brief guidance notes and training for internal stakeholders on any periodic changes to the documents or processes that the legal team has in place (e.g. changes to Furniture Contract precedents)

Data Protection

  •  Managing the Cluster’s existing processes relating to GDPR Compliance (subject to overall supervision of the UKI Legal Counsel and other team members), to include liaising with functional Data Protection Champions, Group GDPR Compliance Team and, where necessary, external Data Protection Counsel
  • Responsible for helping to manage Subject Access Requests for the UK Market. Includes ensuring policies are up to date and liaising with HR and members of the legal team as appropriate.

Other

  • Considering permission requests from third parties who wish to exploit historic Imperial Tobacco intellectual property in films, exhibitions etc.

Skills and experience

  • Excellence of using Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach to all areas of work
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • ILEX / law graduate or law postgraduate with LPC / BVC or equivalent would be desirable, but not essential
  • Previous legal experience in commercial contracts and/or data protection would be desirable, but not essential
