The role

This role sits in the Category EVP team, reporting to the head of Product and Portfolio for EVP.

The NPD Project Lead will be responsible for leading Innovation projects by coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver the ambitions of the Category. This role is responsible for translating the Category strategy into project requirements and leading these projects through IPL. This will require leading a multifunctional team of innovators, brand marketers, designers, engineers, digital specialists and external agencies together with colleagues from communications, corporate affairs, legal and finance.

 

The NPD Project Lead is expected to have a close working relationship with the NGP Innovation and NGP Supply Chain teams.

Key accountabilities

  • Deliver a variety of Innovation projects, leading internal teams and agencies from concept to launch phase for new and existing product development
  • Work with and manage internal clients globally, listening closely to consumer needs, sharing regular product updates and delivering a superb product experience aligned to the business expectations
  • Develop close working relationships with critical stakeholders across the business
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to help translate the business requirements into user stories and backlog deliverables.
  • Manage and work with the product design, design and innovation teams (including agencies where required)
  • Partner with consumer experience, I&I and brand marketing teams
  • Build out the best market defining products and consumer experiences

Skills & experience

  • Significant experience managing product and portfolio teams, ideally within FMCG / CPG industries, with experience of operating at global or regional level (experience of US market a real advantage)
  • Ability to work at pace in a fast-moving environment, ideally with experience of a new or under-developed category
  • Ability to influence at all levels and across multiple geographies
  • Project management experience gained in a complex, matrix organizational structure – both as a project lead and project member
  • High level of commercial awareness to translate insight into actionable recommendations
  • Possess strong analytical reasoning and business acumen; able to assess/determine clear business outcomes

Empathic and culturally adaptable with relevant experience in multi-cultural settings (both from a geographic- and business- perspective)
